Ingredients

  • Brocoli
  • Oignon
  • demi-poivron
  • Surlonge de boeuf
  • sauce à l'orange

Also needed

  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) cornstarch
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) canola oil

Optional

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) orange zest

Preparation

  1. Blanch the broccoli for 2 minutes in a pot of boiling salted water. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  2. Chop the onion and cut the bell peppers into cubes.
  3. Slice the steaks into strips, about 0.5 cm (¼ in) thick. Coat the beef strips with cornstarch.
  4. Heat the oil in a frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Cook the beef strips for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, until they are golden-brown and crispy. Set aside on a plate. Remove excess oil from the pan.
  5. Add the onion and peppers to the same pan and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the broccoli and continue cooking for 1 minute.
  7. Pour in the orange sauce and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the beef. Divide onto plates immediately.
  8. Sprinkle with green onion and orange zest, if desired, before serving.
